Jesus said, “I am the true vine . . . abide in me and I will abide in you. . . . You cannot produce fruit unless you abide in me. For apart from me . . . you can do nothing.”
–Gospel of John, chapter 15, verses 1, 4, 5 (NLT)
Abiding in Jesus is the secret of the fruitful life. The one who abides in–dwells in–the personality, presence, power, and risen life of Jesus of Nazareth, is full of all that He is. This abiding “son” (or daughter) stays rooted, centered in the current of revelation and wisdom, humility and meekness, power and purity, love and compassion which are Christ’s.
As we abide, we fellowship at the center of God’s nature–in sync with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In this abiding we enter the invitation to participate in and with the divine nature of God. We are at home in Jesus and participate with their life. WOW! Amazing!
Lord, Jesus, thank you for drawing me back in again today. Thank you for the fellowship with you today. Thank you for the awesome insights as I drove home today. Thank you for the peace and assurance of your love. Thanks that you enjoy me; I feel the same about you. I loved our time. With your help, I’ll try to be more conscious of abiding. And when I feel drawn off, I’ll return as soon as I’m aware. If I get distracted, I’ll depend upon your Spirit and faith to renter as soon as I’m aware. I love you Lord.
NOTE: Upon rereading and further reflection over this blog post, I realized that this experience driving home today, was the answer to my prayer on 7-13-10. Thank you Lord Jesus.
