America’s Historic Choice

Do the American people truly understand that we will make a historic choice this year? Our nation as we have known it these past 250 years, will never be the same if Obama continues as President. Or if the kids who put Obama in office put Ron Paul in office simply because he’ll legalize their drugs and cater to their self-centeredness.

New Hampshire has an opportunity to lead the nation. We can show the nation that we really understand the choice that lays before us. But contrary to what the Republican establishment would have you believe, Mitt Romney is not the man to lead us away from the abyss. Romney is a manager, but not a leader. He is a politician, but not a statesman.

For those who genuinely are undecided between Romney and Newt, perhaps this comparison chart will help:

We need a visionary leader who has known since youth that his destiny was to save his country from a great danger. Winston Churchill had such a vision and was such a leader. I am amazed at the parallels between Churchill and Newt Gingrich. But the most outstanding similarity is their prophetic grasp of the “big picture.” Both men saw and understood the dangers that faced their nation. And they both had clarity about how to face those dangers.

We need a leader who can lead us through an American renewal. We do not need a manager who will “manage the decay” and be controlled by the moneyed establishment.

Newt has enemies because his eyes were not on his next election. He did what needed to get done, what he had promised the American people who placed him in office. He got the job done, and both sides whined about it. Now the Republican establishment is repaying Newt’s defiance of the old guard by supporting the Massachusetts moderate–Romney.

For whatever reason, the Republican machine doesn’t yet understand that the only way to beat a liberal is to bring in a conservative, NOT a moderate. Americans want to see their values and nation renewed. They know that the Democratic party of today will never be able to create an environment free of baby-murder, true to Constitutional intention, friendly to faith, supportive of the nuclear family, national security, and historic Federalism (rights of the individual).

Massachusetts is not, nor has it ever been a conservative state. Romney did not win as Governor because he was a conservative. Newt has ALWAYS been conservative. He has a track record and the support of those who recognized the differences.

The historic choice lays before us: Will we continue down the path of medocrity and concession or will we take a bold new direction toward the renewal and restoration of the values that made this country the greatest force for good in the earth?

QUESTION: A moderate or a conservative?

  1. I think it’s unfair to lump all young people together as drug addicts and narcissists. You and I would both hate it if people made wild accusations about Christians by only seeing the actions of certain sects of Christianity. Generalizing like this can be damaging for both the group your targeting and for yourself.

    1. Actually, I don’t believe I made a statement about “all” young people. What I said was “the kids who put Obama in office.” Many more young voters either voted differently or did not participate in the process at all. The large chunk of Obama youth vote refers to those young people who lack life experience, wisdom, and foresight, and who voted for Obama based upon Democratic talking points or the opinions of their teachers or parents. I will concede that there may be some who take their voting more seriously and voted instead for Hilary Clinton or McCain. However, I’ve spoken to many young adults over the years and have found their approach to Presidential campaigns to function much like their high school or college student government popularity contests.

Since Obama’s strongest support came from students, I am increasingly concerned about the seriousness of those particular young voters this time around. I’m hoping they do not go now to the opposite extreme with Ron Paul–who tends to be so far “right” that he seems “left.”

  2. I strongly doubt many of the kids who support Ron Paul do it for his plan to legalize drugs. While I can not support him. I like to believe his supporters have the best intentions in mind. Also are you implying that supporters of Obama couldn’t support him if they weren’t foolish? It appears that way with the more informed voters voting for Hilary or McCain. Unfortunately people in the middle of their life and elderly people can be just as nerve racking as the youth. This is because of many knee jerk reactions when things are not going as planned.

    1. Alan, first of all . . . thanks for being willing to engage in this conversation. I appreciate that you’re reading the blog and thinking about the issues. Thanks.

I often use hyperbole. Jesus did too. Often. It’s a figure of speech. It makes a point more stark and shocking. “If your right had causes you to sin, cut it off.” If Jesus meant that literally, most people would not have a right hand. His point? Whatever in your life causes you to sin should be removed. Flee from it. So that you don’t lose more than just your hand.

Obviously not ALL young people are voting for Ron Paul because he’s willing to legalize drugs (he wouldn’t have the support in the House or Senate anyhow). But, I’m making a point. Don’t miss the point of the entire post because you’re fixating on a literal reading.

Don’t get hung up on literalist rendering of my sarcasm. I’m not writing a textbook or news item. It’s an Opinion Editorial (Op Ed). 🙂
